| VRF products were first introduced in Japan in the 1990’s and it was quickly adopted in the Japanese market due to the advantages of energy efficiency, flexibility and scalability. Over the past several years, VRF technology has penetrated in other global markets like Western and Eastern Europe, China, Thailand, India and Latin America. In 2008, the global VRF business was valued at over $8Billion US dollar and this segment has been growing at 2x the base market growth rates. The growth in the formative years was limited by the availability of the compressor technology and it used to be the domain of the only the Japanese manufacturers who had their own compressor and inverter technology. Over the last 10 years, technology has become more accessible and the availability of the Digital Scroll has further allowed many non- Japanese OEMs to launch VRF products in the market. |
