Digital Scroll System vs. Chiller System

Across Asia, high energy consumption by air-conditioning applications has driven the demand for more energy efficient systems. Any air-conditioning system must be sized for the peak load to be handled. But systems operate at this peak load for only a limited period within a year. For the rest of the year, systems have to run at partial load to match the changing demand. A chiller system typically does not operate very efficiently at part load conditions, thus leading to higher energy consumption even when demand is less. These limitations, along with the inability to precisely and individually control room temperatures, high cost of building, high maintenance costs, pumps, and higher space requirements as a cooling tower call for the need to search for alternative air-conditioning technologies in the market.

VRF systems with Copeland Digital Scroll compressors are gaining rapid acceptance for commercial (offices, supermarkets, hospitals, etc.), residential (condominiums and apartments), and industrial buildings with multiple zones requiring customized temperature control. Air-conditioning systems with digital scroll technology have several advantages over chiller systems.
